Onyx Coat

I love my Onyx coat! It is very elegant, posh and sophisticated. It is definitely a "head-turner"! I can't wait to wear it to two special occasion events in March. If you want an eye-catching and stylish coat then choose Onyx!

I was hoping this coat would look as good as it does in the phot and I was very pleased that it lives up to it’s image! The fabric is soft...and gets even softer after washing in cold water. I hang mine to dry and it’s ready to wear. I wasn’t too sure about what size to order as I was kind of in between on the size chart...so I took a chance and ordered the XL/1X as I am in between a UK 16/18 and I do not like too snug a fit bit and don’t want baggy either. I find this jacket to fit beautifully, even when fully buttoned. IThe style allows for incredibly versatility...dressing it up or down. Being a seamstress I can be very critical about how many clothes are so poorly made this day and age...but I have to say Holyclothing (I’ve purchased quite a few pieces now) garments are very high quality in fabrics used and in the construction of their garments. I have purchased quite a bit of fabric as well as garments and have been very pleased with the quality of it all. The only suggestion I would make in regards to the making of this coat would be to use BLACK interfacing instead of white.

When the coat is on & buttoned, it looks great. Mind you, I did have to take it to a tailor to take in the waist to give it at least a bit of shape. For this price, the coat should have at least the thinnest of lining to cover the stitch points on the inside. I believe the shapelessness has to do with combining XL with 1X leaving a wide range of measurements for the coat to accommodate. I maybe could have sized down but it may have been too tight & I would not have been able to button it or put extra layers under it. If your measurements are in the size L and smaller, you will probably get a nice fit. Still, I will get lots of wear out of this coat and do love the way it looks.

This is a flattering, crushed velvet coat with nice drape and swing! A wardrobe essential!
